ABOUT
Oak Creek Commons
We started the planning for Oak Creek Commons back in the fall of 1999, when we discovered the site for our community, and the first move-ins were in April of 2004.
Our community is located in Paso Robles, a small town with a population of 30,000, — almost halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Luis Obispo county is a 30 minute drive south and it’s a 30 minute to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean.
Our membership is a diverse group in age and occupation. We are singles, married, families, kids, couples, middle aged, and retirees.
One key design element is the allee (central walkway) that winds through the community. All the homes with our sitting front porches face the allee, which is beautifully landscaped and has a canopy of shade trees along its way.
The large Common House is centrally located and is the heart of community activities. It’s where we gather for community dinners, holiday celebrations, dances, special events and other social get togethers. In the front of the Common House is the central plaza for sitting and kids’ play. Out back, facing the oaks, is our large deck with tables and chairs for dining and BBQs.
Lots of Shared Amenities
The Common House has a large dining area in our greatroom, gourmet commercial kitchen, childen’s playroom, library, laundry, large screen TV in the parlor and a projector system in the greatroom. There are two bedrooms for guests of residents.
Other amenities include: swimming pool and spa, full woodworking shop, tool shed, organic garden & orchard community and a children’s playground. In the 10-acre woods is a fenced in dog park.
We have many planned and spontaneous activities such as holiday celebrations, potlucks, movie and game nights, bonfires/s’mores, monthly birthday get-togethers, sidewalk chalk play, swimming, picking the bounty from the garden, orchards and more.
Holidays are special gather times at Oak Creek Commons. Valentine’s Day festivities, Easter egg hunt, St. Patty’s Day party, May Day weekend festival, 4th of July Parade, Halloween entertainment, Solstice Dinner (with a special white bearded guest) are some of the events for the young and young at heart.
Kids’ Play Paradise
Built by design with wide walkways, multiple play spaces, front porches facing towards the allee — make for safer outdoor & indoor play with friends of all ages.
Outside there is a traditional playground space including a wooden fort with two slides and two playhouses. There are multiple grassy areas for play with plenty of summer time shaded. The swimming pool and spa provide hours of fun and entertainment.
The 10-acre woods offers nature’s playground, a magical spot that includes a treehouse and swings. There’s plenty of space to run, explore nature and to delight in one’s imagination. During winter rains the two small creeks flow.
